Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, 2006 (1.5L)
The 2006 Pisoni Estate Pinot Noir
possesses very complex aromatics.
It is hard to find wines with a
combination of fruit, spice and floral
notes. The fruit-driven notes are
the most forward with raspberry
and black cherry up front. More
subtle are the baking spices, especially
clove aromas. Also, hints of
purple rose petals seem to weave
in and out. The palate broadens
out quickly with tight-grained tannins
framing the wine. The tannins
turn more velvety as they taper
off to a long, fine finish. 2006 is
another good year for acid levels,
providing great balance to the fullbodied
texture.
